ABOUT ICONS
This is anything but a sterile record in tribute to an icon of the underground - it literally draws its strength from these samplings of words to arrive at something quite different. So it's the contrary of a monument, it's more a suspiration or an outflowing. Like all documents of any importance, it's a living resonance that speaks to us from yesterday but that is of the essence today. This is precisely what is going on here, and this is how 10% was conceived, with its witnesses, its new creators and its timeless Gnaoua-Joujouka pedestal. In a sense, it is also a link. The burden of respect is far away, the veneration forgotten. One can't make demands on icons (we draw a little courage from them if we can).

Produced by Frank Rynne and Joe Ambrose.
